Best HD codec question.

Hey all. Ok so I've a feature that I'll be premièring in next few weeks. It will be screened in a theatre. Shot with a HVX200. Edited in premiere pro cs3 (old I know). The screens pretty big. The projectionist just wants to send it out of his laptop so has asked for a file as he thinks this will be best for him. Originally I was gonna go with a QuickTime mov with h.264 codec but there's a lot of scenes in darkness (woods at night etc) and the codec has played absolute havoc with the gamma levels. Is there any other codec or delivery format one of you could recommend that won't lead to an issue like this?

In this case I'd use prores, assuming his laptop can play it back without issue.

h264 but not in a QT wrapper is something that I have used in film Festivals that are projected ...large. ( eg 48 Hour Film Comps)

Test a section .... and then use as high a bit rate as the laptop can deliver. 10 or 12 mbps will be good enough.
