Best Hard Drive for Video Editing

Can someone recommend thebest/fastets/most reliable hard drive for FCP Editing outside of a raid?
I hear the Ghlyph 050Q's are great for audio, but are they as good/fast for video editing as well?
Thanks.

I've edited DV on Western Digital's Maxtor's, LaCie, Seagate, you name it.
They all work good. I think the biggest question is reliability.

I've had Maxtor's crash a=on me and while I have had no issues with my three LaCie hard drives I know allot of other people have had problems.

Currently I'm using G-Drives for my HD editing and have been very happy with them.

I have been editing DV using 3 LaCie Drives with no problems and just started using Segate for in the field use. Also like many others using G-Drives for HD work.

Let me add my rec for Lacie here. Love Lacie. I have a 400GB external SATA for DV footage that never fails.

I will NEVER buy a Promax drive EVER again. Ever.

" +1 on the G-raid."

"I've seen plenty of Lacies die a spectacular death."

That's good to know although the first time I've heard that of Lacie drives. I've heard more than a few people complain about Seagate drives crapping out too.

I say poop on western digital... one died on me after ONE month, and it had my best friends' wedding footage on it (tape's were demolished).

Have to disagree about the Lacie's, though. Never had a prob with them.
