best graphics card for premiere

[egproductions]

the adobe website lists a few types of grpahics cards that are compatible with premiere and take advantage of GPU processing. It lists the ge-force 6800 ultra and the 7800 as some of them. The most i can afford is a regualr 6800. I am not sure if these are the only ones that it works with or if the ones they list are just some of tested possibilities. If anyone knows please shed some light on ths issue.

I have an Asus ATI x800xt and I noticed a big hike in footage quality on Premiere Pro 2.0 over 1.5. I attributed to better encoding, but this makes sense as well.

there shouldn't be a diffrence in footage quality even between premiere 3.0 and pro 2.0 if youa re editing dv than your editing dv. the graphics card is going to help with rendering times.

I've been using a GForce 6600 AGP with 256 ram on a PC with Adobe 1.5 pro. Everything is working fine for capture and editing DV. Rendering time isn't terrible unless I use some of the Magic Bullet effects.

Here is a link to the Video card I'm using. I paid $134.00 and it's selling for less now. The model is Gigabyte GV-NX66256DP. I hope this is useful.

I have Asus N6600GT with 128 GB memory and have no problems with Premiere 1,51

I have the BFG 6600gt 128mb. With Premiere 2.0 it works fine...If you plan to be editing HD you might want to buy a better card and a lot of RAM (at least 2 if not 3gb.)

Hope this helps
