Best Gift You've ever received/given?

What is the best gift that you've ever recieved or given, and why?

I'm looking for some inspiration here given that Christmas is only a few weeks away now and there are still a few people in my life that as of now aren't getting anything from me because I have no ideas.

As for me... (next to my dog when I was a kid) the best gift I've ever gotten would probably be my original 'The Shining' door insert poster. My wife gave it to me for our wedding (I guess she was technically my fiance at the time).

I'm a fan of Stephen King, Stanley Kubrick, and Saul Bass, so this poster brought together 3 things that I admire greatly. Doesn't hurt that it's a badass looking poster either
:)

So what are some of yours?

Okay, I'm probably oversharing here, but last year my wife gave me a homemade advent calendar with all the days in December on it. Each night I would open a day and behind each day was the name of a body part. That night she would massage that part for 10 minutes. It was awesome!

THAT is a cool gift....
Hmmm, maybe I get my wife to become a catholic in the next week or so.
:)

My DVX and Powermac this May on birthday. Was gonna buy the DVX myself, anyway, but it was sure a pleasure to get one that way :)

Knowing my love of film, a good friend of mine got me a Cast and Crew invitation card to a preview screening of Raiders of the Lost Ark. That's by far the coolest piece of film memorabilia that I own.

Best gift - I can't really remember what gifts I've gotten. But I do remember last year a friend of mine got me the "Tiny" figurine from House of 1000s Corpses. And that was freakin' sweet.

The best gift I ever gave someone - This would be a gift I gave myself called the panasonic ag-dvx100a. lol.

It depends on how much you want to spend and who it's for. Gift cards are always a safe bet. I like getting Blockbuster gift cards. And movie theater gift cards. A bottle of wine is always nice for distant relatives whose house you are going to. If it's people who are close to you and you want to spend a lot more money on you could go for an iPod, DVD players are getting cheaper - I got one for my grandmother. We have a store here where you can purchase beers from other countries. Random, unheard of beers. I always get a six pack of different types for my grandfather. He loves trying different things.

My brother bought my dad The Warriors DVD this year. I think that is pretty awesome!!

I'm pretty much out of ideas for my mom. I think I am going to get my dad a sleeping pad. He has been using my yoga mat when we going backpacking and usually complains about it the next morning.
