Best format for DVD creation

Hi,

After I finish editing all my 1080i footage what is the best way to export to DVD. There's so many options, compressions, codecs. I used to do everything with a video card but I sold it because it didn't support HDV and now I'm learning my way around the compression/codec ropes. Oh, I use Premiere Pro 2.0.

You want an MPEG-2 file and a 48kHz audio file (AIF or WAV). I encode my video around 6.5Mb/sec. Depends on how much you need to squeeze on a disc, also. If it's feature length and/or there are lots of extras, you're going to have to compromise the quality (and use AC3 audio) unless you can burn dual-layer. Budget your bits, so to speak. Anything under an hour should look great.
