Best food on set

Hello,
Can anyone give me some solid catering/food ideas for a two day shoot. Just looking for some ideas here, or maybe some do's and dont's of keeping the crew well fed.

Depending on how much you've got to spend... Restaurants on the Run.

I mention this since you said catering. What these guys do is take you orders for their participating restaurants and deliver it to you. I used these guys in Santa Ana and it worked out fine.

Blaine-That probably wouldn't be an option as $ is somewhat scarce. Thanks for the idea though.

John-Check.

In that case, take 'em out for fast food afterward.

We tried to keep a couple of ice chests of water and sodas on set along with munchies.

i want fresh fish veggies and real mashed potatoes, and plenty kimchi brown rice and seaweed wrap:grin:

What's the theme of your film? If you want to keep everyone in the mood and in character, try and find food that your characters would eat. If it's a Romantic Comedy then have some italian food with music and candles. A Sci-Fi flick would have lots of Tang. You get the idea. :)

both healthy and non healthy munchies...
healthy -veggies and dip
no healthy - chips and muffins

get sandwiches (I made my own a shoot)
pizza is always a winner
salad
water... etc ... when people are hungry, they eat anything

if you want to bring kimchi, prepare for the studio so smell

make **** lots of sandwiches with varied and decent ingredients, at least. and premium soft drinks! no god damn Cuckoo-Cola or 8-up. :/

and biscuits for coffee break.

I have a shoot coming up in April and I contracted with a local restaurant to do the catering.

They will be serving the food buffet style so that people can eat whenever there is a break or they are not needed.

We also asked that the food be easy, meaning no need to cut it with a fork and knife and not messy so it won't spatter on clothes/costumes. They are putting together an awesome menu with Salmon, London Broil, and Pasta.

They are also providing all of the plates and such as well as a server and clean-up service.

Anything but pizza, it is always pizza. Water, juice, fruit, good pastries, snack bars. Asprin, Band-Aids, allergy stuff, and pepto (if you go with the pizza).

Do you know how much it's running you chris?

-Thanks everyone for the ideas.

Most larger grocery stores have a big bakery and deli area. You should be able to find deli sandwich trays, veggie trays, etc. Check them out. :)

I just did a no-budget short this past weekend and last weekend. We did pizza one day, then cold cuts and make-your-own sandwiches the next. If I had to choose, I'd try to get as much protein into people as possible. No matter what, there's gonna be a lull after lunch, but if you try to limit the sugar and carbs everyone's intaking, it might help with that. Good luck.
