Best Editing for Title

Re: Best Editing for Title

I went to Apple site and just see the Motion application. It seem nice but you but the system requirement is pretty high, I don't know how it will work with a G4 933, 1 GB ram, GeForce4 MX.

Re: Best Editing for Title

One of the Editors at my job was just showing me Motion last night and he mentioned the same thing. He said his computer at home is pretty fast but since Motion requires so much, it won't even operate on his system!

Which makes me wonder. I have a 1st generation 1.8 G5 with a 1.5 gigs of RAM, along with the 160 HD, I have a 120HD and a 120 external FW drive. I doubt I would even be able to operate Motion on my set up. So what would I need to add to my system? I think I remember seeing dual processors as a requirement?

The stuff he did show me with Motion looked pretty impressive. Some of the same fonts from LiveType are in Motion to I saw.

Re: Best Editing for Title

Hi DVX100Shooter,

If you think with your system(G5 1.8) you are not even sure to be able to operate Motion, I really don't think I will be able to do anything on mine. Do you know anything else, good and working with less requirements system? Until I can afford one of this new Mac machine.

Jesus Chr...always something new to buy those days to follow...

Re: Best Editing for Title

Thanks DVX100Shooter,

Definitely not for my system, this computer can't run Motion. I have FCE 2, so I don't know if I have Livetype with it, I have to see if it is there, somewhere.

Re: Best Editing for Title

I hope I won't have to go out and get a whole new system with dual processors...I am going to see if I can just make some additions to my 1.8 G5.

Re: Best Editing for Title

Hi DVX100Shooter,

I just find something in FCE2 (Boris Callgraphy). I hope I got at least a G5 1.8 like yours. I will wait and may be get a "G6 3.6 dual" by the time ;D ;D ;D

Re: Best Editing for Title

I have a "first generation" 1.8 single processor G5 with 1GB of RAM and Motion works on it, it is just not in real time. In terms of speed, it is pretty similar to LiveType, where it has to render through the first time and then it will play more quickly. Motion is more confusing than I thought it would be, so I haven't had a lot of opportunities to use it yet. It looks like you can get some nice stuff from it.

Re: Best Editing for Title

Thanks for that insight Kyle, I guess I am some sort of luck then. I guess you need the requirements to use it in real time.

Re: Best Editing for Title

You could also use an image editing application such as photoshop or the free one, the gimp.

All the best

Fidel.

Re: Best Editing for Title

I also talked to an apple rep and they said you gotta have at least 3gb RAM to get the whole thing running like it should!
i dunno... I'm glad motion is cheap but not for what it requires.

Re: Best Editing for Title

What's the point of having a cheap application when you need a very powerful machine?
This is just silly.
We can always use After Effects or Combustion. That doesn't need all that.

All the best

Fidel.
