Best dumb (non-electrical) E-mount to EOS experience?

There seems to be a lot of adapters out there. If you've used one, why not let others know which ones are great, which to avoid, and what cost you encountered. Given the camera is shipping in a few weeks, I am sure this is on everyones mind.
 
I like this a lot, great bang for the buck.
This is a Nikon mount but they may also have a Canon version - they offer a ton of adapters.

to my knowledge, the nikon g adapter should be mechanical and actuate the lever next to the rear element of the nikon lens
eos is electronic control, but maybe some of these dumb adapters have a second iris ?
anyone know how badly this screws with the image / eos optics ?
 
this may be a dumb question but here goes...

if i were to use a dumb eos adapter with a built in iris, would that iris affect DOF, or just exposure? i would think both, but being that it is behind the entire lens, i'm not really sure...
 
Both. Although the problem is also that you get vignetting depending on the lens you are using depending on the aperture setting of the adapter. There is a bunch of videos I have seen on Vimeo with different focal lengths showing this.

No, I have not. I am trying to decide which mount to purchase as I want two of them. Given how inexpensive a lot of these are, and the varied responses I get about them, sounds like playing the lottery on anything below $100 :)
 
I ended up buying 2 from rainbowimaging. I made them an offer for 35 each and they countered for 37 each so I took the deal. These are the ones with a connector on the adapter for mounting. The main reason I wanted this one is that the inside is very smooth. I am building an experimental ND design so I needed certain requirements for the inside.
 
i got my fotodiox NEX/EOS adapter in the mail yesterday. it has the 1/4"-20 mount on the bottom for added support as well. so far it seems solid. i put a couple of my lenses on it and they are about as movement-free as they are on my 7d, which isn't as rock solid as a PL mount but not as loose as my old canon FD mount for my redrock, which was awful. no way of testing the NEX mount side until i get the FS100. overall though, it seems pretty well engineered and worth the $50 from amazon.

One thing I noticed right away is the depth of this thing. It's pretty long. The first thing I thought of is that someone should make one of these with an ND wheel inside...

no i kinda meant a standard ND wheel like what is inside the F3 or most other camcorders. thinking about it, i don't think one would fit within the adapter, but someone could make one that was larger that could accomodate a wheel. anyway, i have my own little home cooked plan on another thread here...
