Hey Everyone,

My budget has been extended to $18,000 USD for camera gear for a production I will be DP/editor. (Using two DVX)

We will be renting the lighting equipment and accessories.

So far I have budgeted for:
- 2 Chrosziel mattebox + French & Side Flags/Follow-Focus/Anamorphic kits
- Bogen 516 Head / 515MVB Legs
- Panasonic TFT 4:3/16:9 flatscreen monitor
- Varizoom remote pan/tilt head
- Bogen Remote Control Handle 522P

Initially, I was looking at purchasing the Indie Dolly Kit from ZGC.com but I'm not sure about that. I was looking at a number of other brands and I'm not sure which one is the best setup.

The Microdolly seems pretty good, The Porta-jib Flextrak and dolly cart seems pretty neat but I don't think flextrak would be good on uneven surfaces, and I was also looking at the Matthews doorway dolly and tracks.

What would you all recommend? What have you all had experience with and are the results silky smooth?

I plan on mounting the DVX (with ana lens, mattebox, flags, and follow-focus) on the Varizoom remote pan/tilt head at the end of my Cobracrane, which will be mounted on the new tripod/head combo, which I would like to mount on a sturdy and reliable dolly system.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Re: Best Dolly & Track Setup?

Guys,

Just purchased an indiedolly (the straight track kit) from dvcontrol. Haven't had time to set it up (delivered this morning!), but i'll post once I have a chance to set it up. Heavier than the microdolly, though, but comes in a nice bag. Seems like a great value for the $700 bucks I paid for it (not including the tax and shipping).
