Well had my greatest time with my DVX these last 3 days.

I got to film our local SWAT team here for 3 days with my DVX. Got about 9 hours of footage that included almost everything i could think of. I even got to film stuff from a helicopter.

Of course it was near a unhappy ending when a flashbang almost hit my precios DVX.

yea the HVX would be great to shoot this stuff. But 9 hours of footage would take up a lot of storage in DVCPRO HD.

And i don´t think these guys have a lot of HD sets in there homes. The final product will be outputted to DVD. So the DVX will work nice enough for this job.

But of course the helicopter footage had been nice to have in 1080P.

That was my point. It would have been a chore to shoot this with the HVX in HD using the P2 technology. Doesn't sound like the type of shoot where you wanted to (or could be) tied to a laptop or stopping every 4-8 minutes to dump P2 cards.

So use the FireStore... should be out about the same time the camera is, and will likely give you at least 3 hours of continuous shooting...

Well i think P2 cards would be ideal for this type of shooting in the near future.

I shoot at most 3,5 h a day in 25p. The longest time i had the cam shoot continous was for obvious reason 1h. That would mean with two (not so far away) 32GB P2 cards would had let me just roll and forgett. Ad a portable hardrive that i could transfer one card to. I could have no problem to shoot exaclty the same way I shot this thing.

So all you need is

2 P2 cards
Portable harddrive to transfer to (about 200 GB would do the trick)
And a laptop on your hotelroom for the "final" storage

or

A Hardrive to transfer directly to. Wich wasn´t ideal for this shoot, because it was some real rough moments.

I Actually mention the HVX for them and it wasn´t HDTV that they liked the most. It was the slow motion capability.

So in the long run. P2 cards will have the advantage over tape. Now i must make a nice transfer of 9 hours of footage to a hardrive. I Surely will have some dropouts (Didnt have time to buy my favourite tapes.)

Of course 9 hours of DVCPRO HD footage would take about 500 GB. But in 720 i could do alot in post with a 50P movie.
Slow motion - no problem
Movielook - no problem
Realitylook (50P) - no problem

"I think we will have 32GB P2 cards before SWAT teams needs HDTV" - Movieswede ;)

Whoa, sounds awesome. Can you post any grabs?

well i hope I can post some grabs. Must check with them first, They dont want there tactics to be released for everyone. But some frame grabs i hope would be possible.

But i have 9 straight hours of transfer ahead of me :(
