BEST COMP FOR VEGAS EDITING

I am cutting my feature on my laptop and it is not a very good idea cos it is not the fastest machine :-[

Can you tell me what desktop computer (PC) would you reccomend for editing my dvx footage using Vegas? I can spend max 1000 dollars but would prefer to go much cheaper.

What is IMPORTANT for editing? (what kind of processor etc..)

Obvioulsy, the larger (fastest?) processor you can get will be the highest bene; that and RAM. But for a grand? I dont know. Mine cost $3000 (Pentium Xeon; 1 Gig Ram) :-/ :-X

$1000 won't get you a lot of computer for editing, but you may be able to find a good refurbished model from dell or something.
