I am editing for a television show and was given graphics that have an alpha channel. At 200MB+ for a one second graphic these have choppy playback in real time regardless of what video quality or playback frame rate I use.
I converted graphics without alpha channels to XDCAM 1080i60 HD 422 (50 mbs) to match my sequence settings for all the video footage. These playback great and don't need to be rendered which is superb.
I read that Apple prores 4444 should preserve the alpha channel but after converting some graphics it was not keying out properly in final cut.
So would anyone be able to help me. I need a manageable file size that I can playback in final cut and maintain the alpha channel. I'd be grateful for any help you all could offer.
Cheers.
