Best cloud storage for video?

I recently decided to look into some sort of cloud storage. I currently use the free version of Dropbox and love it, however I'd like to host about a terabyte or so in the cloud for backups of various video work etc.

There was recently and announcement of NovaDrive which gives you unlimited (they claim fair use but who knows) storge for $5/month. I tried it for a day and it's not working out for me at all.

There is a service caled Backblaze, and also is a $5/unlimited but they limit to max file size of 4gig. While typical users will rarely exceed that, those of us in the video field frequently go over.

Do any of you use some sort of offsite backup/sync service? what do you pay? what do you like/dislike about it?

Thanks

I am familiar with the Cloud Computing, but how would this be different than something like VIMEO ? Or are you seeking to upload and store ? As in the virtual hardrdrive ? Of course, GIGS are cheap these days .

Is this for backups? I always do my own backups. With the amount of data you'd need backed up, potentially creating terabytes per project, I use a local NAS for it. The RAID is the protection there. I also throw projects on bare drives and unplug and store them elsewhere. Buy some cheap SATA drives and an external enclosure, backup and store.

Not used any online backup services as of yet, I just have too much data and would take forever to upload all of it.

yeah i'm looking for backup/sync - and I do have my own storage / raid but that's still not 100% fullproof

Any updates on this? Sure, we can use cheap drives. But you can't just forget about them -- you have to spin them up every so often or the failure rate jumps. Plus it gets cumbersome. And ideally you should have a copy off-site anyway, for which an online solution sounds ideal. There's got to be one we can use. Maybe Jungle Disk with S3? Anyone find something else?

Been using s3 for a lot of stuff lately. And even for large scale backups. You can send them a HDD. It's infinitely more stable and redundant than anything you would ever roll yourself. And it's cheap as ****.

Then it's simple enough to manage from there on out with the Firefox plugin. When I am done editing, I can update the few new files I created.

For my feature:
Edit on 3 1Tb internal HDD.
Backup daily to 3 1Tb RAID 1.
Send to Amazon once for mass footy. Then update individual files as I make them via Firefox plugin to s3.

I guess if you are looking for clients, just send amazon the HDD and charge it back to the client. It's like $80 per HDD to offload, then the s3 stuff is next to free. Or group several clients on one HDD is the data is small enough and send that.

Great to hear Mark. Do you know if this can work with PowerPC Mac? Every time I think I find a solution, I run into "Intel Only."

Well, they take the MAC OSX disks, though they are not officially supported. But they will take FAT32. You can just email them on the site about it. I did and they responded same day, very personal.
