Without a doubt, "It's A Wonderful Life".

What's yours?

(Anyone who says 'Christmas With the Kranks' with Tim Allen will be shot!) ;)

Re: Best Christmas Movie?

Sorry, I put this in Cafe DVX by mistake :-[ - can someone with power and wisdom out this in the film section?

Re: Best Christmas Movie?

I just watched ELF with the family . . . it was fun even though it is a year old, but a Christmas movie with not even a mention of the nativity or even the birth of Jesus is hardly a Christmas movie . . . dont want to be polemic but it struck me that Santa is the be all and end all of Christmas for movies like these!

Re: Best Christmas Movie?

Yeah. Same can be said for all those "classic" Christmas songs which could be any other song but with "Christmas" shoehorned into the lyrics somewhere.

Yes, George Michael, I'm looking at you.

Re: Best Christmas Movie?

I personally love Christmas Vacation. But I just bought a few of the oldies but goodies so I could have a retro-Christmasfest with my daughter:

Charlie Brown Christmas
Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer
Santa Claus is Coming to Town

I have looked all over for The Little Drummer Boy, but cant find it anywhere. :(

Re: Best Christmas Movie?

My favorite is definitely A Christmas Story. And I'm sure someone will make fun of me for this, but I also really dig Love Actually. (Christmas is such a big part of the plot that although it's in that rom com genre, it's also really a Christmas flick.)

It's a very good movie for sure! But not sure I would call it a Christmas flick

Re: Best Christmas Movie?

Christmas Vacation for me. While we are at it Christmas is not Christmas without "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" and "The Christmas Song" with the opening line...."Chipmunks roasting on open fire...." for some reason they really put me in the mood.....kinda of Like Adam Sandler's "Thanksgiving Song", yet "The Hannukah Song" makes search deep to see if I have any Jewish heritage and all I can find is Italian, Scottish, English, and way back the Conquering blood of the Normans, along with some other renegades, rebels, and rogues....where did all that come from :-/

Re: Best Christmas Movie?

A Christmas Story

"You'll shoot your eye out kid!"

"OH FUDGE!!! But I didn't say fudge." (Fudge, a new POWER word.) :D

Re: Best Christmas Movie?

Christmas Vacation or Christmas Story. Or The Night They Saved Christmas... oldie and cheezy, but a goodie.

Re: Best Christmas Movie?

agh! You guys are making me want to open all the movies and watch them right now!!!! I have to clean house and do laundry and pack for a road trip! But I think I can fit in Christmas Vacation if I get the kitchen floor mopped and the bathroom rugs in the washer!
heh!

;D

Re: Best Christmas Movie?

Would you count Nightmate Before Christmas? I do, so that's my favorite.

I grew up on Christmas Vacation. So I love that one.

Honorable mentions go to Scrooged and Charlie Brown Christmas.
