Best carrying bag for DVX100 (soft)

I have this case and like it. I put my camera, wireless audio, tapes and batteries in it. It has enough space to store the items you listed and then some! You should be happy with it.

Looks fine. Your question kind of contradicts itself, though. You can go with the "best", or you can go with a "budget" soft case. Not both.

I remember seeing a nice soft case on here just a few days ago, but now I can't seem to find it. It seemed like a hell of a deal....

Ahhh, just found it... check it out here.

Unfortunately that deal had a limited quantity and they are all sold out. I managed to snag one of the few they had, and I'm sure glad I did! At $100 shipping included it is one heck of a deal! At the $250 list I'd be looking for something else.

Ah, I see. Well at least a couple people from the forums got them ;)

I use a Varizoom bag. It's a tight fit, but it holds the DVX100 with the shotgun mounted. Plus room for batteries, tapes, charger, wireless lav kit and more. The side are rigid so the bag won't collapse on itself, but it's not sturdy enough to stack other gear on top of it. It's been great for the last two years - I'm getting a loose seam from carring it by its top handle, not I mainly use the shoulder strap. I think this is the model from B&H. I paid $100 two years ago.

Hey,

I was thinking of this one from B&H Photo/Video.

What do you guys/gals think? I am on a real budget. I do not have a case for my DVX100 yet.

All I need it to hold is the DVX100, filters, LCD hood, Panasonic "Professional" miniDV tapes, batteries and so on. Not a bad deal for $99.00.

Hmmm, that bag looks a lot like this one:

I got this one for free when I bought my DVX last march from B&H. The dimensions are similar. I don't think the camera fits well at all in it - the walls of the dividers inside the bag are very shallow and makes a lot of wasted space - I use it for my dvc30 and other accessories. The Ty video bag is a better deal IMO. The Petrol looks a little nicer than the impact one though.

If anybody's interested, it looks like there's more available at $100 on the ebay site.

If you're still looking, here's a similar bag from Panasonic, but only $40 on ebay:

I use a porta-brace bag and like it a LOT. Don't remember the cost though, but it specifically listed the DVX100 as a model it worked with. It's long enough to let me keep my shotgun on it, has room for tapes, soft tissue cloth, my headphones, Firestore, some accessories, etc. Has soft handles and a soft, grippy shoulder strap. Holds a business card on the outside to keep it from getting "confused" with other shooter's bags, and nice beefy zippers and hardware. It even came with a white card.

Good luck with your decision.
