Plan on investing in the Pocket Dolly at some time this summer. Want to be able to do vertical slides.

Was told I need

1- a tripod with a 75mm or 100mm bowl.
2 -Hercules 2.0 Head
3 -Flat Mount Adapter
4 -Giottos MH7001 Ball Head
5 -Giottos MH621 Quick Release Kit.

Ok, all I have now is the Manfrotto 724B

almost identical to the 725B here

I also own a Manfrotto Magic Arm. Not sure if it could be used in lieu of 2,3,4 above.

I really, REALLY need some solid advice on what to buy. What would be considered 'best buys' for sticks with a 75mm or 100mm bowl?

If you are going to buy all that with the intention of doing vertical moves, I feel your money would be better spent on a jib.
This is coming from someone that has all that gear already.

Gitzo 3 or 5 series (the XLS version) is a great tripod. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/569167-REG/Gitzo_GT3541XLS_GT3541XLS_Systematic_6X_Carbon.html

They sell a 75mm bowl adapter: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/569199-REG/Gitzo_GS5320V75_GS5320V75_75mm_Bowl_Adapter.html

And a 100mm adapter: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...5320V100_GS5320V100_Bowl_Interface_100mm.html

This is a very flexible setup. They also sell a series 5 tripod.

I use the series 3 XLS with 75mm adapter (first 2 links above) with my hpx370. I'm using the flat plate to mount a custom job I'm making for my GH2, onto the tripod. I LOVE this setup.

If I was going to buy a ball head it would not be Giottos.

Kirk or Really Right Stuff have Arca mount types that are far superior.

Gitzo series 5 might be way overkill. My 600mm f4 is rock solid on Gitzo series 3.

the Hercules head ball is 100mm. youll be limited if you go with a 75mm tripod even though you can still sort of use the head on a 75mm, you just can adjust or angle it from what ive seen.
