Best audio into an EOS Rebel T4i/DR-60D?

An acquaintance is studying documentary film making and has bought an EOS Rebel T4i to begin work on a project. She asked me the best way to get audio into that camera. As she is working as a one woman band I advised her that the Rebel was probably not the best camera for that type of work. She is investigating the possibility of selling that camera and buying a camcorder however she still wants to know the best way to get audio into the Rebel.

I was going to recommend the Tascam DR-60D as it would allow a high quality recording on external media but there are reports of problems with the DR-60D. Is anyone having a good experience with this recorder?
As she will be working by herself and is on a low budget what else it there to recommend? My feeling is that the audio quality of the Rebel will not be up to snuff. Whenever I record audio to these DSLRs I always use double system so I am trying to get her the same quality of sound but in an easy to handle manner.
Thanks,

what sort of problem have you heard from the DR-60D? I have been playing with it all day yesterday and it's doing fine, the 'only' issue is the digital dial that if you have a 'constant' audio source while moving the knock you will hear faint clicking noise, but if you set the audio right before taping orjust move dial between dialogues, it shoud do well, I currently loving it with the MKE 600.

DSLR Film Noob did a good review here : http://www.dslrfilmnoob.com/2013/04/22/tascam-dr-60d-review-video/

mdiflm,
Thanks for the info. I had read on some other forum that there were software issues with the DR-60D so I am try to find out if that was an anomaly or systematic.
