Best audio format for music?

A buddy of mine is gonna work on some music for a project of mine and was wondering what format would be best for the audio files. Still new to this... so, any suggestions? thx!

Well, I know that for the music to play back properly and at its best quality in an NLE like Final Cut, you want AIFF files. If you have MP3 files its not difficult at all to convert them to AIFF.

for premiere, if youe out putting to dVD make sure its AC3

when youre compiling the edit, usualy .wav files and after export to mpg2 and mt2
