I liked Burton's Batman films.

I have to agree with The Incredibles.

Love both the Spidey flicks.

Best:
The Swamp Thing

The Toxic Avenger.

Or is it the other way around?!?

Re: Best and Worst Superhero Films

Burton's original "Batman" was a masterpiece.

"Superman" was about as good as comic book movies get, but it was made in a time before schizophrenic ADHD editing styles (and loud rock soundtracks) were in vogue, so the younger crowd probably thinks it's "slow."

Re: Best and Worst Superhero Films

Agreed, David.

The original Superman is fantastic. It still holds up. I love the pacing of that film. Really took its time to let you get to know people.

So, Superman: The Movie remains my favorite comic book, superhero film.

My next fave is Unbreakable.

I'm glad someone said it.

The best list has been covered pretty well, but on the worst list how about Captain American or the Dolph Lundren Punshier? Ouch!

Re: Best and Worst Superhero Films

X-Men and Spiderman came out at the right times, with directors who acually studied the comic books.

Superman 1 is great, and like other posters wrote, I'll take John Williams score over one hit wonder rock bands anytime. Still wish WB would release Richard Donners original cut of Superman 2(the current version is okay, but too funny at times-Richard Lester's reshoots. Superman 3 was all Lester, all crap.

Hulk was disappointing, considering I liked the comic book stylized shots they did. Nick Nolte as the lead villain?! WTF?!

Dolph Lundgren wasnt that bad at being the Punisher(the script and/or directing killed it), as I felt he had more of the look of the comics than Thomas Jane(probably the worst casting of a superhero ever with Halle Berry as Catwoman). Dolph was great in Joshua Tree(Army of One) and Silent Trigger(Dolph should've sent these movies to the folks who did the Pun remake!).

Everyone forgot Howard The Duck on their worst lists. Boy that was wretched.

Re: Best and Worst Superhero Films

Tried writing a Superhero screenplay...kind of the reverse of the current process...thinking "do the film first, then the comic book"...

It needs work. :(

Re: Best and Worst Superhero Films

oooh I hated Burton's Batman. It seemed like he read the cliff notes to get the story. (I think burton goes for that style over substance thing, but I haven't seen all of his films) But, compared to the rest of the franchise, it was good.

Re: Best and Worst Superhero Films

i think batman one and The hulk were the best. those who didn't like the hulk... i feel sorry for you. theres so much more to it than people think.

I just didnt like Nick Nolte as the main bad guy. I liked the movie until that point. Why not someone from the comic book? Did "Evil Dad" even exist in the comic book?

Re: Best and Worst Superhero Films

You guys haven't seen bad superhero movies until you have seen The Fantastic Four. Not the one coming out this summer but the one done early 90's.

When the hell they gonna do a Wonderwoman movie? That woman jump started my puberty. ;)
