it really depends on How much you can/want to spend

Letus35flip is a good buy for $700 (but it only can mount old style camera lenses)

M2 adapter is much more expensive (can mount current/better lenses & easier to find
accessories like follow focus) (must have rails to use it)

there's a start maybe

what do u mean the 35flip can only mount old style camera lenses. will it fit my dvx then once i have my lens and adapter there is no way to focus. u are stuck with one zoom angle.

What is your budget? they range from $300 for a static adapter to over 10K... How are you going to use it? The M2, for instance is a very good adapter b ut is fairly heavy and will loose a couple of stops (most adapter do). The Brevis on the other hand, will do better in low light situation and is very light. The Letus will flip your image... They all have some pros and cons, but they all work pretty much the same way and they all give pretty good result.

I don't own an adapter, but I have built a few with varying degrees of quality. However of the images I've seen, the SGpro is the most filmic. The thing is, you really don't need an adapter to achieve shallow DOF if you know how to use your DVX or any other 1/3+ inch chip camera for that matter.

Well, it's easy really. Have your subject a good distance from the background. Back up far, zoom into your subject, open the iris up all the way, turn your ND filter on, readjust the iris to get a proper exposure, and hit record. I'll post some frames tonight that I got with the stock lens to show you what I mean.

my problem is that sometimes my subject and the background are close and i cant do anything about it. then what

it's not the same thing as a real 35mm i'm sure

i have a hdr-fx1 and i want to sell it for a dvx100b to get the real film motion. the good xlr plug. is it a good move. i have the xlr adapter for the hdr-fx1. i can put the shutter speed at 30 so it look like a 24p but it's not. what would you do. my main goal is to get the film motion. i'm making movies and i want the best option. i'm gonna buy a 35mm to put on my camcorder. so what would you do

No, it's definately limited, but works in most outdoor situations at least. I have found though, when you need a quick shot, it's so much more convenient to try to do it in camera, rather than trying to do it with an adapter. And, if you can't get rails, it's really not worth it at all. When you try to focus a 35 lens without rod support, the rig moves around and ruins the effect. On film cameras, the standard shutter angle is 180 degrees. That translates to a 1/48th shutter speed I believe, but I could definately be wrong. And it really depends on what you are going for; if you want the "Saving Private Ryan" look, you might use a 1/120 shutter speed or higher. Or were you talking about frame rate? I hope this helps some.

my price range was 700-1000$

i heard that the ifocus is a great adapter?

Where did you hear that? I believe the ifocus is a statics adapter. I have no experience with the ifocus, but generally static adapters are the most problematic, they are also cheaper. I owned an M2, and was very happy with it, but didn't use it enough, to be more specific, I didn't have enough projects that required one. so I ended up selling it.

If I had to buy one again, I would consider the M2 (again), but I would also look at the Brevis as well. I like the fact the the Brevis offers different diffusers. It is also a very light adapter. The M2 was very heavy. I hear very good thing about the SGpro as well.
I have heard mixed comments about the Letus 35 FE. Some people love it, but many people reported problems with it... Anyway, that would be my selection... Again, I think most of them are fairly good...

Here is some stuff with just the stock lens:

is that stretched to 720?

look into the SGpro, Cinevate, and the Go35. thoes are the three best right now.

It only works in camera if you zoom in all the way... Doesn't do much for medium to wide lens, then you have no choice but a 35mm adapter, which why most people get one...

When you try to focus a 35 lens without rod support, the rig moves around and ruins the effect.

Not sure what you are using, but many 35mm adaptors do not need rail support, such as the Brevis which is very light. Of course if you use a very heavy telephoto you might need one, but most wide to medium lenses are very light anyways...

cheers.

Umm yea they kinda do. if you put a brevis on your lens wihtout a rod support with ANY lens, you are risking serious dammage to the camera. All that holds the threads on to the front assemble is 3 tiny screws, that can be stripped by one good knock especailly if theres 1+ pounds of weight leveraging them.

yeah the stock dvx lens can do soem good.

but man, that uprezz is ugly :( the only reason it looks cinematic is because its SOOO soft because of the enlargment, cant make anything out.
