Best 3/8" Fluid Tripod Head for DVX/HVX

Search on this forum stinks. Love the community, though.

Need opinions on the best 3/8" fluid head for my DVX.

I recently purchased a set of carbon fiber sticks with a rated max load of 13.2 lbs. I like them, but they're doing me no good without a nice fluid head for my DVX.

I was looking at the Bogen/Manfrotto 516, but I have heard little to nothing about it. Is it worth $530 (B&H)? The Cartoni focus looks nice, but they're for 100mm bowl legs, and I just want to use the 3/8" sticks now.

The 501 and 503 both seem okay, but I always hear caveats and excuses for their performance.

I want smooth pans, ease of use and reliability. I am willing to spend the time getting to know the equipment and getting the most out of it.

Budget is $800.00. Thanks in advance!
 
With that budget in mind, you can do much better than the Bogen 501 and 503.

I have a Sachtler DV 4 II that I am really loving. Fluid head. The only limitation is there are limited settings for different drag.

I can't really speak for many other systems but others here can.
