Ben Affleck to direct Bunker Hill?

Good. I think he's proven he can handle south Boston crime dramas, and Argo was just his first step towards projects with a bigger scope/scale. I'm excited to see what he does next.

Argo didn't really measure up to the others, though. I thought Gone Baby Gone was fantastic, and The Town was solid. Argo was on a secondary level to those.

I think Affleck's strengths come in depth of character, and internal conflicts, especially among those he knows well. Historical epics don't really tend to lend to that.

But he's earned his chance to try, certainly.

I tend to agree with your take on the films.

It seems like he's a more capable director when he focuses on that and doesn't act. Not saying he's a bad actor, but I do hope he'll put all his efforts for this one on directing others.

I definitely think he's earned his chance at a big film. It'll be interesting to see how he handles the historical epic genre.

He's not confirmed yet as director. In fact, if he's smart, he'll turn it down and stick to producing the film. Historical war movies take time and focus, and Affleck's got a lot on his plate right now.
