I was wondering how to clip the Zoom H4N to my belt while filming. I had an old style phone belt clip

Using the old style phone clip, I used a hack saw to cut off the head of an 3/4" long, 1/4x20 bolt so that I had only the threads. Make sure you secure the bolt in a vise so that you can get as straight a cut as possible. The phone belt clip has an internal "slider" that attaches to the phone. Pull that out, secure it in the vise, but not too tight. You don't want to break it or damage it. I used a combo drill bit that drills and taps the hole in one shot. Drill/tap out the center of the slider piece. Thread in the 1/4x20, and check the orientation of the threads. You want the factory end to go into the Zoom, and the cut piece to be inside the slider. Mix up some JB Weld or similar "liquid welding" material. Screw in the factory end first, leaving the other threads exposed. I used a toothpick to coat the threads, and then twisted the 1/4x20 until it was flush with the end of the slider. DO NOT COAT THE THREADS FOR THE ZOOM H4N! Insert the slider into the holder to check for fit. It should fit snug. I then added some JB Weld to the part of the slider to secure it inside the holder. As I remember, you would push on the tab, and the phone would "pop" out of the clip. In my mind, if it accidently popped out, the Zoom recorder could wind up on the ground!!! That's too much risk for me.....as you can see, I'm kinda chea...er....frugal. Let the whole thing dry over night.....When using audio cables, you may want to consider the 90 degree type, or use velcro to wrangle the cables so one doesn't have a tripping hazard waiting to happen
