Belly

yea that movie is sick...one of my top 5 ever for cinematography for sure... some of the audio seems a little off tho

but yea - i love that movie

yes - the shots in this movie are sweet...awesome use of color and contrast

have you seen Belly John?

Yes. I love the way that movie is shot.

If you haven't seen it, I know this sounds strange cause the movie should suck. But it doesn't.

I forgot about that one thanks.

the cinematography is beautiful, and for dmx and nas as main actors, they do a godo job. hype is the man.

i was interested in checking it out, and have mad respect for how Hype revolutionized hip hop videos, but considering his last 50 videos look almost identical, I wasn't sure i wanted to devote 2 hours to his feature

Yes, the plot IS a little convoluted, and lacking in some parts. But nonetheless, amazing. Pick it up if only for the cinematography, it blew my mind apart

the movie is a pile of crap. looks neat. but suck all around. "2 Hype williams" needs to stop.

Nik,
I'm not hating at you, but I will cast my hate at DMX.
I knew Belly had come out, but I didn't go to see it because of DMX. I did catch it one night at a friends house. I was so blown away with the cinematography, as well.
The cinematography is fantastic! Damn that Hype, he had something once, but his work of late is garbage. Who shoots 2:35 and then puts images where the black should be? Hype is lazy as of late and has completely lost my interest.
Back to "Belly" - The story and acting are sooooooo crappy I couldn't even finish the film. DMX is almost as worthless to the film industry as he is to the Hip-Hop industry. His ego is almost as hard as he is. I couldn't sit there and watch him play himself for the whole program. Cool idea, good images, Hype on his way out, and a lot of horrible moments of DMX acting like his rapping (garbage).
This film is a wave of cool crashing into a wall of garbage, it looked cool for a moment, but then all you had left was a mess.

Very, very well said.

Director of photography was Malik Hassan Sayeed, who also shot Spike Lee's 'He Got Game', which also was very nice-looking (and a decent film as well)

I liked this flick. The stuff with the old jamacian guys was awesome.

And, yes, it looks amazing.
