"Belly of the Whale" (or Act 2b climax) ISSUES!!!!!

I'd love any and all input or ideas on how to make this work!! Thank you!!!

So i have this story, its about a boy who gets grounded, and he finds a way to go back and try to make things right. When he uses this time machine, it doesn't take him back, but rather he just created himself again, a day before. So the next day he wakes up and he is in fact in the same room as himself. The story progresses that he is able to use his "clone" to trade places with him and he can go off and have fun while he is "still grounded back at home." .....at the beginning of Act 2b the clone realizes what is going on and doesn't like it. Our hero is now faced with the reality that he is now against "himself" (how can he possibly win that fight?). So i need to figure out some interesting twists in Act 2 that the two characters go through, and i need to be lead to the point where our main character has to "approach danger" or "go to the enemy" to try and solve his problems.

If it helps at all, the main goal of the character is to get ungrounded becuase he has a major baseball game at the end of the week that he wants to play in. So i do know that the climax of Act 3 is that the clone has taken his place and is pitching in his place at his baseball game, and he has to go switch places with him in the middle of the game and win the game for his team.

I'd appreciate any and all input....and please ask any more questions!!! Thank You

Ok, if i understand correctly, you want a fire under the butt of the proagonist to make him go back and confront his clone...

...random thoughts off the top of my head. (none very original, i'm sure)

He and the clone cant both exist so he begins to fade/rot/die/decay/wither/age and that makes it more time critical that he sets things right. Or alternatively, both he and the clone start to die, so they are both forced to reconcile differences... or argue over which one gets sacrificed.

The clone, realizing he's a clone, goes on a crime spree that the hero is being blamed for.

The clone, angry he's a clone, modifies the time machine so it will send the hero back to where the clone came from, making things right, but the clone alone lives on. The clone then hunts the hero.

The owner of the time machine shows up and tries killing both of them cause they know too much. Clone and original must cooperate with common foe.

The clone and original agree to take "shifts" and that seems to work out until one of the two gets in trouble or falls in love.

With equilibrium disrupted, time itself starts to decay. Things happen in the wrong sequence. Clone and original must band together to save fabric of space/time.

(girl movie) The clone ages rapidly. Within days he has turned into the dying vision of the original kid's father who he never was able to say goodbye to. Lots of weeping and dying and saying goodbye then the clone dies and fades away.

(disney movie) the two halves get involved in mad hyjinx, but in the end they learn that its better not to mess with time travel... but they didnt really learn their lesson ...TIME TRAVEL RAVE!

(serendipity) the clone makes more clones...

(startrek) the clone was the good half, later the "pure evil" clone comes out and the good clone ends up sacrificing himself to destroy the evil clone and save the hero.

(art film) The clone turns out to be a girl and the two fall in love in the ultimate narcisistic way possible.

(felini) the clone issue gets ignored and instead the rest of the film is about circus freaks walking around really slowly.

(kubrik) The clone and the original finally meet, and then there is a 20 minute trippy acid trip designed to approximate a visual representation of "closure"

(hitchcock) Original and clone have a battle of wits, but in the end find out that they BOTH are clones.

(modern steve martin movie) The clone, in an attempt to save himself from being destroyed by the original turns on the time machine. The next day steve martin shows up and the rest of the movie is neither funny nor interesting.

ok, thats just what came to my head. hope that triggered you to have a good idea. hehe.
