Hello,

Last week I was recording a video for a 30 minutes program about life quality and I was able to get some pictures, later I send the DVX footage.

The following setup, the camera with teleprompter over a supermarket car (using a sound blanket) and stabilizer ON, made some nice footage, very smooth:

And the light (a kinoflou) was fixed in the car as well:

Thanks,

Is that an HMI in the first pic? What kind of dolly is that? Real track...sigh...

I love behind the scenes pics

We got the supermarket permission after 5 days talking, sending letters, etc, but the customer has a good relationship with the local stores and helped on that. We got a 5 hours time limit starting at 6am.

That light is a HMI 575. The dolly is a professional one (rented).

Thanks,
Ulisses

Sweetnesss!!

Those lights look amazing...and that promptor....:cheesy:

How many watts are those lights? the kinoflou and the HMI?

yes I am interested in knowning all the above as well. BTW I was born and lived in Belo Horizonte, MG till I was 9. Eo so um carioca. I dont know what they call sau pauloans, but yeah looks like a great setup. What are those lights you used? The real real big ones, If they are as good as they look, i'd liek to use similar lights in an upcoming music video im doing

What was put inside the shopping cart to make it all padded and smooth looking?

a super pillow....?? haha

Most of the time, we used 2 kinoflous (5600k, 4 lamps, 55W each) and a HMI 575W, so all day light to easily mix with locations lights. But we had in hands some ARRI's (3200k): 1x 1000W, 3x 600W, 1x 300W and 1X 150W.

575 HMI has a nice lightand even direct in the subject, DVX handles it very well in cine gammas. My DP was impressed how he could point the HMI direct to the subject with nice latitude for a video camera. He told me he never got such result with video before.

The shopping cart setup was invented at the recording time, we couldn't use the travelling because it was a long movement and the tracks should appear at the frame. The steadycam (a light one) couldn't be used because the teleprompter.
I don't know the names in english, but I'll try :) Inside the shopping cart there are 2 small rectangular boxes (here we call 3 tabelas: 3 tables ??) and a folded cloth that we use for better sound acoustics, here we call "manta de som". The black cloth almost eliminated the shopping cart vibration, and the DVX stabilizer removed the minor vibrations.

Monday I'll post a clip with some shots using the shopping cart.

Thanks for the comments ! All the time I have interesting situations in the videos I direct, I will carry my photo camera more often :)

Very cool. Thanks for posting!

The "tables" are probably what we call Apple Boxes... and guys he already said the pad in the cart was a sound blanket.

It looks like you guys are some serious professionals!

Thanks for the info ! Yes, sound blankets folded... it was a good stabilizer for the camera :)

Apple Boxes ?? Here we use for crew seating, support for tripods, tables, etc and for raise objects... it has 3 different heights, it is why here it is called three tables.

They make several different sizes. Half Apples, Quarter Apples, 1/8 Mini Apples.

yes, almost the same.... we just used it black painted and has additional holes in all sides for handling.

Thanks for posting the pictures. The dyi shopping cart setup is great! It's always cool seeing how others come up with on-the-fly solutions.
