hi,
im trying to now shoot most of my footage in squeeze mode on the DVX100a from now on. and its looking good save for the loss in resolution (which isnt really noticable on web footage anyway). the problem i have is i look at the raw capture scratch in quicktime 7 pro, and it appears 16:9, and a check of the info states 720x576 PAL big endian, as expected.
so i edit etc in FCP and export it as anamorphic and it appears as a squashed 4:3 image. now i know that a PAL video signal has the same Active Picture time whether its widescreen or not, but why after FCP does quicktime not know its a 16:9 image. there must be something in the datastream of the capture which FCP does not put in the final output data.
what bothers me is that the capture scratch is captured through FCP in the first place though.
the only ways i have acheived 16:9 so far is to either run at 1024x576 for 16:9FH or 720x405 for 16:9 full width.
i'd be grateful if anyone could shed some light no the subject
thanks.
