Bees!!!!!

Well I'm making a short film soon that has a scene were somebody opens a drawer and bees come swarming out of it attacking two people. Well my problem is how do I go about doing this without using real bees??? Should it be done with cgi or what??? I really don't know please help me!!!!

we'll if you want close up shots, CGI, cause you're not gonna get away without 3d space and dimension, if you can have a long shot, AE, cause the dimension and 3dspace is not that pronounced.

if that makes sense.

CGI = computer graphics.

You'll need something that does "particles". A number of choices, only two of which I can name: Particle Illusion (not free - $400 or so) and Blender (free).

I've only used Blender, so can't say much about anything else.

As for Blender: Free, non-intuitive, PITA to use, works.

Hi,

I thought I didn't explain that well enough, hie hie.

there is a tutorial floating on the net about doing flies in After effects, that I'm 100% sure with the right soundFX and brining in some yellow could work for bees too. the link is

htt;p://prolost.blogspot.com/2006/01/mines-better-than-yours.html for the article, ALSO READ the responses!!!, direct file to effect: http://home.earthlink.net/~prolost/flies.mov.

So what I'm saying is if the Camera can stay on a 2D plane, use the AE trick, if you're gonna have a shot where the camera rotates on any axis, it might be more tricky.

better?

Motion also does perticles and is part of FCS so sort of free, if you are using FCP.

kill real bees with poison and use really thin fishing line to tie them to a puppeter kindoff rig and pull it out , sounds strange but hey dario argentio did it and it work wonders! plus it will look real because they are real!
