With much success...Im so impressed with the quality. I have it attached to a ktek carbon fiber boom pole with a rode shock mount. No noise, just clean audio. I thought this was going to be a nightmare, but i was wrong.

Im still debating if the KSSM mount is worth the extra investment seeing as Im doing fine with the rode

Chris,

I also have a MK-012 in a shockmount similar to the Rode, mounted on an aluminum painter's pole. When I tap lightly on the pole several feet away from the mic, it sounds like a drum- lots of lows transferred.

I'm thinking about a carbon fiber pole, wondering if it will make much difference.
Also considering a KSSM. What do you think?

Fred

P.S. Otherwise, I really like the mic!

The Kssm is very light weight. An internally cabled pole will help with some handling noise. I tried out an oktava last month and while the sound quality was great i prefer my AKG ck93 as it has a low cut on the mic itself which greatly reduces handling noise especially if you are running directly into your cam without a mixer which will usually have a low cut built in.

One day of exterior shoot with cold temps and i was weraing some lightweight gloves which also helped in handling noise.

Matt, we all have out favourite mics, for example, I really really don't like the seinheiser mics, maybe I don't know how to use 'em ??

So I'm not dissing the AKG mic at all, I'm just giving some extra info on the oktava.

The oktava actually has a low cut add on that comes with the mic that you screw on.

That's not a low-cut; it's a 10dB pad - doesn't provide any EQ.

At some point someone was selling a srew-on low-cut for the MK-012's, but I've never heard from anyone who's used it...

Mainstreet - make sure your cable is not physically transferring vibration to the mic!

as you see the curve is not really big
yeee , iknow you cant read **** - thats your problem :-)

I use the low cut...I guess it makes a difference because I have virtually no handling noise. But im also using a carbon fiber pole...so i dont know...This is my first time working with audio at this level so I have nothing to compare it to personally...

Thanks for the specs, Oleg! I was looking for something like that...

Yep, Derrick, that is the low cut... did you buy that "film version" from Oktava USA?
