Beaulieu 5008s

I'm looking at a Beaulieu 5008s that's in really nice shape...original box, manual, and charger. Battery seems to hold up OK, lens is in great condition...

I'm wondering if anyone here has used the camera and perhaps has any idea of the market value so I can make an offer on it. Found one on eBay that sold for $175, so that's my best guess to value right now. Also, if anyone has any other info on the camera I'd be interested.

Is super8 still available anywhere with a sound stripe on it? It'd be cool to shoot some sync-sound s8 footage...

Super 8 sound film is not available new. You can find some stuff on Ebay, but.... the quality is probably suspect.

Those Beaulieus that you are looking at seem to go for around $250-$350.

The 4008s go for more.

Stick with the Schneider lens, I heard the 6-66mm is really good. I believe the Angenieux 6-80 is considered really sharp.

Keep in mind you will probably have to buy a new battery for it. This can add a couple of hundred to what you will spend.

I paid close to $600 for mine. I'm going to be selling it soon however. I barely used it but it produces nice images.

Battery seems to hold a charge quite well so far. It's got the Angineux lens...I'm amazed to find that it's a 35-400 mm equivalent in 35mm terms. And now that I've found out about s8 processing at Walmart, it's cheap enough to play with it. As soon as it stops raining I'm going to take it out and shoot some footage.
