Battlestar Galactica Season 4

Who's been catching season 4 of Battlestar Galactica lately?

I'm a HUGE bsg fan, and I've been a solid devotee for the past three seasons. I even felt those episodes that went off story were very enjoyable just for the sake of getting into the world.

Maybe it's because of the delay with razor and the delay with the writer strike, but I've just been losing a bit of interest. Or perhaps it's just that I'm right, and this season isn't very strong. I'm still watching. After 3 seasons I'm not going to suddenly stop for some poorly written episodes, but I dunno, just doesn't have what the other seasons had IMO. Plus I wasn't a fan of Razor, what a waste of time for them to spend on it. However it might have helped with the writers strike. Dunno.

I think they need some sort of huge story arc to really push this season, and maybe it's a bit early on, but it's really lacking something. All the other seasons (which Im' also re-watching with my sister), have really had me on the edge of my seat. This one not so much. It's like each episodes something does happen, but nothing I care too much about.

SPOILERS

I suppose a lot has happened. Starbuck heading to find earth, Calli dying, the cylon civil war (which is just... weird, dunno, would have hoped for more 'war'), and then baltar... just being weird. But I don't care for Baltar's cult too much, and the last episode felt like NOTHING happened. Colonel Tye sees his dead Ex wife and Lee (who's become a really boring character) passed some law. Exciting! Have we seen any real shooting since the first episode!? Sure, some hits, and explosions, and BSG is very character driven, but when was the last space battle to hold us on our seats?

Anyone else feeling the same as me? I think everything has changed, and so have the characters, so much so that I'm not caring for a lot of them like I used to.

Hopefully with the focus on Starbuck in the next episode, I'll enjoy it a bit more.

BSG always starts strong, then they spend several episodes setting up a lot of stuff to bring it on in the home stretch. I have confidence the series will end strong.

Did it start strong? I dunno, even after the first episode, by the second one, it felt a bit dragging.

You're right though, the beginnings of the season usually do start off as a set up. Hope you're right.

Go back and look at the 86-87 season of television following the writer's strike. Not much good stuff even when they came back. 'course lots of series then hired temp writers to keep the season going in the case of some shows.

Haven't followed BSG but in the case of The Office, it's the same thing - writers trying to find momentum that was shelved for 3 months. It will take some time, but I wouldn't expect this to even end as a great season for most shows that were affected.

I thought the first episode was great. The next couple seemed like filler. I liked the last episode, mainly because Chief has always been one of my favorite characters and seeing him come unhinged was compelling.

Yea, first one was intense... then it's left me hanging.

I liked Cally though... or at least the actress.

So, i skipped over your spoiler point... lol

I just became a huge fan of BSG over the past two weeks....

i had originallybeen a huge firefly fan... which i still am.... but had kept hearing Joss Whedon thought BSG was the best show on television right now...

so i thought... the almighty lord of my favorite show... if he likes this show... i MUST WATCH!

so i did, and fell in love... right now im still in the first season.. but still having a blast... lol

Great! I got my sis into it. She's not even a sci-fi fan. I'm watching with her and we're on season 2. I don't think you should be reading this thread though, or else a lot might be revealed. :D

As for the recent episode. I felt it was a lot stronger this time around. Finally getting back to a storyline I care about.
