Battlefield Earth screenwriter apologizes!

Wow...that was a good story. It shows how political Hollywood is and especially how much influence that so called church has over the industry. $100,000,000??? There are a lot of folks here that could have shot that movie for a lot less and it would have looked great.

I've seen much worse films than Battlefield Earth...

I've actually never seen it...but as someone who cuts trailers for films that never see the light of day I can almost assure you that I've seen much, much, much, much, worse...things that will make you lose faith in cinema.

I haven't seen Battlefield Earth, looks awesome tho. One of those so bad its actually quite good movies hahaha.

Anyone remember Flash Gordon from 1980? Can you imagine the story behind this coke-binge-induced masterpiece? My mom took me to see this in the theater, which is really a testament to how little there was for kids back then. I was ten, so it's all a little hazy, but I think I actually remember asking her how Hollywood could possibly make something as shi**y as that. She was weeping, and not because I had just sworn for the first time.

This movie has its camp value but it is a piece of junk. The music is both the best and worst thing about it. Dino DeLaurentis really destroyed a lot of potentially great franchises in his day, (Flash, Dune, Conan). Only the first Conan: The Barbarian is worth anything as a movie, which is just average but has one of the best music scores of all time.

Yes, but Flash Gordon is magnificently horrible.

My first exposure to Battlefield Earth was a Book on Tape. The narrator was excellent and honestly I loved it. I was disappointed with the movie but in no way was it as bad as it has been made out to be. I think the professional critics general disdain for L Ron Hubbard has a lot to do with the initial critical reviews. Read Eberts review of Battlefield Earth and then compare to District 9.

I am not a fan of Scientology and I don't think Battlefield Earth was a great movie or even a good movie but 1/2 star - I don't think so.

I have to agree - at least BE was technically competent - good for at least 1 full star.

Or a volcano, or a Thetan, or whatever one gives out, to Scientology movies.

What! Flash Gordon was/is great! Proper loved his gay ass hover board thing too hahahaha and his he-man styled mullet. Sorry guys, but I really liked Flash Gordon as a kid.

I met Sam Jones in 2000 while working with a startup company that had hopes of casting him in a film.

He hasn't really changed all that much, so far as I could see. And man, he sure expected the A-lister treatment, that guy. Limo, gourmet spread, the whole nine yards or he wasn't even coming to the meeting...

It was surpassingly better than Indy 4

Nice.

Ebert gives it 3 1/2 stars - obviously you don't know good storytelling and film making when you see it!

Ebert quote ( Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." Say it aloud. The very title causes the pulse to quicken, if you, like me, are a lover of pulp fiction.)

I guess if your like minded buddies make the movie it makes all the difference in the world.
