Battery for a Camera Monitor

I own a 12v 5 AH Power Sonic Battery that I usually use for my small onboard light.

I'd like to instead use it for a 7" onboard camera monitor (which originally comes with the Ground and DC + 12v power hard wire with an in-line fuse protector)

Not being much of an electrician, I attached it to the terminals and POP, the fuse blows immediately. I tried to get the amp # off the fuse but I couldn't locate it amidst the code containing several numbers and letters on the tiny thing.

So do you think this will work with the right fuse?

Your comment on not being too much of an electrician can be taken as you may not know how to deal with electrical connections. Do you?

The fuse protector may have saved your camera monitor. Are you absolutely sure you are wiring things correctly?

I think you should do this before connecting things again: get yourself a diode, like a 1N4007 type, and wire in series with the positive or negative monitor cable, and it will protect things from being incorrectly wired.

Do not put a larger fuse until you are sure of things.
