Batman: My 1 minor quibble.

It was an excellent movie, and Chris Nolan and David Goyer should get oscars for their work on the screenplay. The first half of the movie was stronger than the second half (for my $7.50) but it was still good all along. But, I did have one minor point that irked the living crap out of me when it happened.

FADE IN:

Bats make a quick logo.

SCENE 1

Bruce wayne falls into a cave, bats fly everywhere, scaring the guano out of him.

SCENE 2

Bruce goes to see a play about bats, gets scared asks his parents to leave. They are murdered.

SCENE 10

Bruce goes to train, and his rite of passage involves (surprise) a bunch of bats flying out of a trunk, as they are his biggest fear.

SCENE 13

Bruce falls into his cave, and sees more bats.

SCENE 14

BRUCE: "I need a symbol....something more powerful than a man."
ALFRED: "Sir?"
BRUCE: "Something primal... something that evokes fear, something..."
ALFRED: "Like what sir?"
BRUCE : "I don't know.."

Hmm how about f@#king kangaroo! A BAT you idiot!!! How could he possibly not know? I just don't get it. Sigh.

Other than that, excellent flick. A+.

at that point in time, he did not know that he would be able to 'act' like a bat. he did not even visit the wayne applied science division as yet. he thought he had to use his ninja skills in some way, but which way, he did not know.
also, when he first visited gordan, he did not have a cape, he only realised that he needed one when he fell trying to jump between buildings.

it was an excellent way that the film makers used to show that everything bruce wayne used was for practical purposes, and not for a 'costume'

Dude, there's already a Batman Begins thread. If you only have 1 minor quibble, why not post it under the other Batman thread?

Actually, I'm just bitter because I'm the only person on the planet who hasn't seen this movie. :(

I haven't seen it either PK. We should start a coalition. Or at least a support group.

Chris

krestofre - That's a good idea. BUT I'm already a member of too many support groups;

"Coping With Bad Haircuts"
"30 Something and Still Single"
"Finding Inner-peace and the Elusive Filmlook"
"Dealing With Pookie and Other Forum Bullies"

Well, as much as Katie bothered me I think it was probably just her role. They talked about having Natalie Portman, and I just don't know what else she would've done with it. Besides, Natalie Portman has a new contractual clause where there has to be a scene in a hospital waiting room, I think. (her lawyer is the same guy who did Jennifer Connelly's "End of a Pier" clause)

Here's the problem I had. This microwave doohickey could vaporize any water source, even behind walls and in pipes. Then it would have instantly vaporized any water in any human beings and animals within the same target range, killing everyone in Gotham.

The one main problem I have is that no one would wear a bat costume and run around fighting crime. This movie was so unbelieveable I almost got the feeling I was watching a live action comic book! bah!

HA!!

Why did they talk about the mask being defective (Alfred smashing it and ordering new ones) if they never came back to that? It was like they were foreshadowing to something that never happened.

yeah.. also lets just forget about the fact that it was on a little island surrounded by water at first.. but i didnt see any of that huge thing of water being vaporized.. apparently the machine had the ability to selectively only vaporize the water in pipes. ... uh ...yeah

oh well. it was still a good film :)

Where were you when they explained the weapon? It can emit "focused microwave beams" at targets. Duuuh.

(Spoiler follows.) Still, I was confused by the fact that the "microwave emitter" made it pretty far into Gotham. It vaporized lots of water along the way, and no mention was made of the antidote ... so did half the town just go crazy anyway? Did I miss something?

I thought those terrible things too...did anyone think the battank was a bit slow? I suppose it was a tank how did they get it out of the factory, did'nt a security guard notice it had gone...was'nt there a prototype tank there this morning?? . Morgan Freeman keep comming up with the next amazing toy annoyed me too..wanted him to say "what about this?" and Bruce to say "Naaa, think more....bat than spider...you got any grappling hooks knocking around? Don't you get bored keep inventing stuff that never get's used?"

I thought it was an OK film at best. It was just kinda cheesy to me. Anything that is overdramatic kind of bothers me. Especially when it's a movie that shouldn't take itself so seriously. But that's just me. Realize that this is coming from a person that thinks these arguments for "who was the best Batman" are ridiculous, because there's only ONE Batman--ADAM WEST!!!!! But the movie just isn't my style--not bad, just not my style.

My one little quibble

My one little quibble

Guys,

For a moment, try really hard, a little harder, now everyone say it with me...."It's a f*****g movie!!!"
Suspend the disbelief, hang the disbelievers!
Hey, next we can argue about Steve Austin's bionic arm and organic skeleton. Go ahead Steve, pick up the armoured car and GET SHORTER!
Seriously guys, I thought it was a really dark and intense film. I loved when Scarecrow got his own medicine.
What's up with Christian Bale's lower lip and why does everyone who puts on the mask suddenly have to talk all funny?
I love Top Cow's collaboration with DC/Marvel and their Batman.
Finally, ask yourself, If you saw a 5'11" guy in a black suit and mask and a cape, would you be scared or laugh yourself into a coma? Just for reference, when I go out on my GSXR and I am wearing my leather riding pants, There is always someone with a comment. I can only imagine a cape.
