In the spirit of the return of Batman this week, there's a lovely cinematographic effect that I would like to discuss.
When Bruce Wayne is training with Ra's in Nepal, he is given the waft of fear toxin...which affects his eyesight. The pulsing effect is simple enough to do on film with a gate weave, but I'm not sure that's what they did. Unless they had some special optics, it looks like a post effect as certain things do not pulse with the rest of the frame. Ideas anyone? Is it an analog trick or digital post?
