Batch colour correct

Dear all,

Is there a way to batch colour correct video, preferably without going through an editing program? I'm thinking of something the equivalent of batch process in Photoshop.

Basically, this is for a wedding. The couple would like a copy on a hard disk of all the video we've shot. However, there's hundreds of little clips, amounting to around 300GB, and they were all shot with Cinestyle.

Now, it would be easy enough to dump all the clips on a timeline and copy and paste Magic Bullet LUT Buddy over everything (and maybe some sort of auto levels effect, etc) to give them all a quick grade. However, presumbly this would output them as one long video (or a few long videos, if you split it up a bit), and I don't think this would be ideal for the clients' purposes.

Any recommendations?

Thanks very much!

Unless they're paying you extra- just give them the originals and the caveat that this is raw, uncorrected footage. Which is probably more than most WEVA folks would turn over anyways as it basically is saying- I'm getting no further income form this project because now you can make your own edits. If they want it to look like the project they paid for- they can pay you for it.

That said. if not- I'd do a cut/paste attributes and save as one gigantic clip if you really feel you must give them color graded footage. That or do that, then drag the corrected clips back en masse into a single bin and then select them all and do a Batch Export. Either way- far more work than it's worth i.e. free... Don't give away your work ever. Because all that earns you is a satisfied customer recommendation for more free work.

I agree with Noah,

1) I wouldn't be keen to just hand over all the original footage, especially as it will include all the bits you edited out (fumbling, losing focus, swearing, etc) and basically ends up making you look unprofessional (unless they understand how the process works and that not every frame of the 300Gb is going to be as good as what made it into the final project (you cut it for a reason remember!))

2) If you have to hand over all the footage, I would go with Noah's suggestion, and make sure they know it is raw, unedited, uncorrected footage. Colour grading isn't a quick process, nor is editing.

3) If you still want to batch correct the footage, you can use 5DtoRGB. I believe the newest version has a batch process facility. Using this you can convert the files using the technicolor LUT. It takes a while though.... Another option is MPEG Streamclip, but this only gives you very basic Bright/Contrast/Saturation tools. Virtualdub? I think that can do batch processing.

5DtoRGB can apply the LUT to each file individually.

Yep, very wary of simply handing over all footage, but this one's not my call.

Will pass on the advice and look into 5DtoRGB. Thank you, everyone!

Yeah again- this is going to take many hours of render watching. That's not something you should give away.
