Batch capture creating split clips?

Hey,

Im new to FCP and have encountered a little problem. I logged a whole tape into sections that I want to capture, and when I click BATCH, it goes through and does everything fine, however the files seem to be split into a bunch of shorter ones.

For example if I have logged something as "Test Footage," it will save a bunch of shorter clips like Test Footage-1, Test Footage-2, Test Footage-3, Test Footage-4, etc etc. Each is perfectly cut so if I pop them onto a timeline in order they create one long clip. What's more it appears to be totally at random.

This is annoying for archival purposes. Is it normal?

Im using I to mark in, O to mark out, and then clicking LOG. I had about 30 clips logged and then clicked BATCH and this is what happened.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

It shouldnt be a timecode break because it is one clip.

For example, my actor getting up, walking to the door, opening the door and the visitor coming in for a quick chat was shot in one take, as one 60 second long shot, for example. When I rip it, it's split into 4 shorter clips.

A timebreak occurs when the record is paused and restarted without being rewound slightly right? Well this happens to single long takes, where the recording hasn't been paused.

Any ideas?

You can get timecode breaks in single takes. It could be the age of the tape or some glitch in the recording.

In your User Preferences, what does it say for the "On timecode break" drop down? Is it "Make New Clip"? Change that to "Abort Capture" and try to capture again. If it aborts, then it's most likely a timecode problem.
