Basics of color correcting?

If I just edited some video in, and I want to take a shade of green and make it greener, how can I do this?

What if my blues aren't blue enough? Can I select a shade of blue, then pick the range of resemblance to that shade of blue, then have all the blues in the picture change?

Any tutorials or information would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

Go to Effects > Image Control > Color Corrector
Drag and drop this effect onto the clip(s) you want to color correct.

Go to "Windows" > Effects Control

Expand the Color Corrector portion

Find "RGB" and expand it

Play around with the Green setting to your liking (especially Pedestal and Gain).

Do the same for any and other colors you want to change.

While this sounds simple, the color correction mode in Premiere Pro 1.5 is actually quite fantastic. There is a lot you can do with it.

Later on maybe play around with the HSL settings, saturation levels and so forth. You can't break anything - if you mess up go to EDIT > UNDO or hit the Ctrl + Z keys on your keyboard until you're back to a look you liked.

Have fun

What you're wanting to do is referred to as secondary color correction. PPro 1.5 doesn't have that standard but PPro 2.0 does. Not too many tutorials on the net for 2.0 yet. I'm still exploring the new features myself. I did find one short article about it here:

If you don't have PPro 2.0 but you do have After Effects 6.x, there's an included third-party plugin called Color Finesse that has secondary color correction. It's a very nice tool. I haven't used PPro 2.0's secondary CC yet to compare.

I found that the most important thing was getting a good monitor and not trusting my pc screens
I just started reading a book called color correcting for digital video, explains color theories and color correcting very well

Are you familiar with adjusting "curves" in photoshop?

PPro 1.5 has the same functionality where you can go into the indivindual function curves and edit them for secondary color correction. Not as interactive as simply adjusting the RGB sliders in the effects controls of the color corrector but it provides much more control over specific hues. Once you have created a look you like you can save it as an effects preset and apply it to similar scenes.
