Basic Talk? Magic Jack? Or NetTalk?

I looked into Ooma since a friend really liked it. I'm sick of local long distance charges. A few issues is with security systems and fax machines.
 
Do you use the free service or the 'premier' service?

The initial cost of the Ooma is more than double any of the others, but if there's truly no cost for the service itself then that would make it a better buy. Assuming call quality, etc. are acceptable.

What problem did you have with your security system?
 
Tried Magic Jack and spent an hour with customer service and couldn't get it to work. Other people have no trouble with it. Dunno why it wouldn't work on my set up. I have a Core i7 computer and cable internet.

Could've been a faulty device. Or virus. Or I suppose even some antivirus apps might cause a problem. No telling.
