Basic Outdoor lighting

I want to do a basic interview with someone outside. When do you generally want to use lighting vs. a reflector to bounce natural light onto the subject? All of my lighting experience consists of indoor controlled lighting.

Thanks.

I think its primarily based on budget or simplicity of setup in many cases as to whether you use one or the other. To do any major lighting outdoors is done with HMI fixtures like 1200w and above, with butterfly overhead to shield against the real sun and remake the look with the HMI. When you can't do this because of budget considerations or you need simple setup and takedown, reflectors can't be beat. You may still need the overhead though to shade the person then the reflector to put back the lighting you need on the subject.
