Hey: I'm pleased to say after reading this forum and doing a bit of homework I bumped up to the AG-DVX100B. This is a HUGE undertaking for me as I have basically limited experience shooting on a prosumer Sony TRV70. I have to admit, I'm a little intimidated by this camera as there is so much to learn here. Where is a good place to get started? Any help here would be appreciated! Yours, Anthony

I also agree GO get barry book and DVD. Then when you get to a part that you don't understand come to the forum and search for that topic and by the time you're done you should know at least what most of the features of the camera are and what they do.

Set one of your user buttons to backlight.

Go out with everything on auto and shoot some stuff until you get used to handling, framing, zooming (use buttons) and on/off. Then try a backlit setup, use backlight setting. Then fool with manual iris & white balance. Once you get those so you are comfortable, fool with focusing. SHoot at least 2-3 hours of tape.

THEN read Barry's book.

That's a little funny, I don't think I ever even used the backlight setting. But I agree, best way to learn is to play around with it yourself starting with everything in auto and then step by step turn manual settings on.

My Sony had a backlight button which was handier than trying to change exposure using touch-screen, so I am just trying to get him shooting with what's familiar to him already.
