Basic lighting for beginners?

I'm looking at getting started with lighting.
I just bought 2-500 watt Halogen flood light I plan to use. I want to try some 3 point lighting around my house for test purposes. What would you recommend for a second light? I can buy a 150 watt Halogen flood light for 15 bucks, woulud that be appropriate?

Are there any tutorials or videos out there explaining the basics of doing this?

I seem to recall a Flash tutorial on this somewhere, but I've lost the link.

You mean the basics of Three point lighting or using the flood lights ?
If you check out walter graffs page http://www.bluesky-web.com/ he's got some good stuff

3 point lighting. The flood lights are part of what I'll be throwing into my lighting setup. I can figure the flood lights out if I can figure out how to properly light a scene.

I know a lot of you guys ain't gonna like this, BUT

It's really great for indoor lighting, as it creates soft and diffused light.

Yeah I checked walters setup but its all pretty hardware intensive, big lights I won't be having. I'd love a video if i could find one.

I remember a Flash tutorial that showed you step by step how lighting was affected as you added them to the scene.

I don't know of any tutorials that will show you how to light using the flood lights. It's mainly the principle I think.

Yeah, I know. I'm not asking how to light with floodlights, simply jsut how to 3 point. But I've found a resources around the web that look like they will do me.

Thanks!
