"Barry Green is excitable"

Re: "Barry Green is excitable"

Dakota, what are you doing fishing up old stories? That was from a couple of years ago... the Expo was in March of 2003.

I'm calmer now.

;D

Re: "Barry Green is excitable"

DOH! - I thought it was this March.  :-[

Top of page reads "Date: February 18, 2005"

Re: "Barry Green is excitable"

Not sure why they would build in a "today's date" function on a weekly paper - Buggers. ::)

Re: "Barry Green is excitable"

Yeah, that was March 2003.  Don't know why they'd reference today's date.

Trust me, if it was this March, you woulda heard about it -- I would have seriously pimped it.  In 2003 we had sponsors including Panasonic, ProMax, MovieMaker magazine, Film Threat magazine, the Film Arts Foundation, The AIVC, Indie Slate magazine, IndieClub.com, EFX One post-production services, Women In Film, a whole bunch...

If I do another one, it'll have a different angle -- I mentioned it earlier, but it'd be a two-week thing, starting with an educational seminar and then following it up with an actual on-the-job shoot, producing a complete micro-budget independent feature film (with distribution already in place).  I'm still working on getting the rights to the book we want to produce the film from... if it happens, it'll probably be later this year, August-September, sometime around there...

Re: "Barry Green is excitable"

And the most bad ass thing of all...Rick Schmidt being there!

So ya gonna do another one Barry? I think you should get Bret Stern this time.

Re: "Barry Green is excitable"

Well, like I said... if I do another one, it'll be a different kind of thing. The first one got rave reviews, but I'm thinking I want to make it more practical, less "book learning" and more "field learning", plus everyone who participates would walk away with legitimate credit on a finished and distributed feature film...

... well, right now it depends on the negotiations for the screenplay. We have the ultimate book to do it from, just have to convince the author's estate to let us do it for the kind of money we think we can raise.

Absolutely - Rock on!

Re: "Barry Green is excitable"

That would be awesome. You should do it somewhere closer to the east coast... 8)

Re: "Barry Green is excitable"

I hear good things about Atlanta, and making it free for any DVXuser within an 80 mile radius!

I got a little bitter when I was reading that article whilst thinking "Why didn't he tell us about it? Are we not good enough? WHY BARRY!? WHYYYYYYYY?"
