Barbara Walters Blur

I'm doing a 20/20, Barbara Walters mock and I need to imitate her 'blur' in the editing. (You know, the soft blur that's become the signature look to her interviews) None of the blurs that I've tried have looked right. Any suggestions? How is this look achieved?

(Please don't respond simply asking me 'What blur have you tried?'. I always end up having to wait two days for an answer on this site and I don't want to waste a day on that. However, I will tell you if you ask, but when you ask, could you please include your suggestion as well? I don't want to tell you which ones I've tried because then some may feel they need not suggest it. Maybe I just didn't do it right or something.)

I remember someone saying in the still photography section to duplicate the layer and add a slight gaussian blur to that duplicated layer.

Actually, I believe that effect is achieved with the camera and a Dibi net or filter, not in post. The use the same effect with Sybil Shepherd in Moonlighting.

From the sound of his question he's already shot the footage and is looking for a post solution. Of course, I can't confirm that.... I'm not about to ask what kind of blurs he's already tried.

Yes, I already shot the footage and the film is fully edited for time and sound. All I need is the blur to throw over the entire sequence. I'll try that two layer, 10% thing. But for now I just threw a Gaussian with 1.3 Blurryness over it. And I rarely ever shoot my film so that the RAW FOOTAGE gives me the results, cause I fear that I may shoot it wrong, want it different , anything.
