bar mitzva pricing

Got a request to shoot a bar mitzva next november and I have no idea what to charge. I have never done a bar mitzva but I have done many weddings. They were also recommended to me by a very good client so I want to be reasonable with them. I shoot with the HVX200a on HD as well.

ok and what about to reserve the spot for over a year. Just 50% now?

50 down 50 on delivery... same as you'd always do it.

ok what do I do if they say its to much I dont want to piss off my client who is friends with this client.

you thank them for their intrest and and let them know you are willing to help on their next project, should their budget allow.

I'd say... do what you're comfortable with... these are hard times, and getting a toehold in a new market is very valuable. I'd take, say, 25% now, 25% at the event, 50% on delivery if that'll make it work!

Use the time to study up on Bar Mitzvahs... like weddings, they have a lot of both "standard" and "optional" parts of the ceremony and reception...

I decided on 600$ 50% now 50% on delivery. Its just the after party which is about 3 hours of work.
