Ok, here's the the deal........I just purchase my A1 and made the big mistake to buy a cheapo shotgun mic with a 1/4" phone plug. I know, i know...........so I tried pluging it to a female 1/4" phone plug to Male XLR adapter they sell on ebay, right. then I plugged it to a 25' XLR cable and then to my A1 am still getting audio noise. so.............is there any way on earth I can make that 1/4" Mono shotgun mic to give me balanced audio for my A1?????:crybaby: I mean, i know the easiest solution would be to buy a shotgun mic with a XLR connenction, but since I already have this mic......might as well give it a try, right? Please if anybody knows the trick on eliminating audio noise from mono microphones and long cables over 25' !!!

Can't, it's the nature of unbalanced cable. Running long cables introduce interferences that the cable doesn's canceled out. The only way is to mount the mic on your camera with a shorter cable.
