BandPro announces package price for upcoming Sony F65

There was no previous price on this camera. This is the first we are seeing it. I read it on band pros blog perhaps. lemme see if i can find it.

Timur, it's actually the first post here. It's a special "Introductory Package" from BandPro for $85,000 including:
  • Sony F65 Camera Body with Mechanical Rotary Shutter
  • Sony HDVF-C30RW Color Viewfinder
  • Sony SR-R4 Digital Recorder
  • 1x Sony 256S55MB SRMemory Card
  • Sony SR-PC4 Data Transfer Unit
The pricing that I listed above was from Sony's press release, reflecting normal MSRP non-"Introductory Package" pricing...or what I take to be a better indicator of what the camera will actually sell for after it releases properly in January. Of course, if resellers can manage to continue to knock $30,000 - $45,000 dollars off the price tag, let them!

The F65 digital motion picture camera line-up is scheduled to be available in January direct from Sony: The F65, with viewfinder for $65,000; the F65RS (Built in Rotary Shutter Model), with viewfinder for $77,000; and SR-R4 dockable recorder for $20,000. All will also be available through Sony authorized resellers.

I don't know if they named it based on price... probably something more a kin to sticking to a film based reference. So the F35, has a S35mm sensor, the F65, while not having a true 65mm film frame measurement, 52.48mm X 23.01 mm (Super Panavision aperture measurements), but that since it is higher resolution than the S35, they went with the next higher film gauge. ....

...Yeah, I like that... am sticking to it! But really who knows, but Sony themselves. I have always thought that the way video camera models are named is kind of hokey. I mean, we have an F3, but where were the F1 and F2?

Though, I can't wait to see the specs on a Sony F-IMAX!!! :2vrolijk_08:

So when is Sony going to introduce a consumer 4K camera?

When there is a market for it. As of now, there isn't, and won't be for awhile. Majority of consumers are just now
adjusting to HD. That cam from JVC is anything but a consumer product.

Consumers adjusting to HD ? You can't even buy a standard definition television anymore. HD is pretty much today's standard definition and 4K will be the minimum upgrade.
