I Just picked up a wireless AZDEN WM-PRO mic system. It was a gift so I decided to give it a try.
Before you can use it with any camera that has XLR inputs with no 1/8 inch mini mic jack, I am told it needs to be re-wired from its un-balanced state to better conform to our balanced inputs.
So I inlisted the help of a local sound guy at this club I film at regularly and he tells me it should be wired in the following configuration.
Remove 1/8 mini jack from reciever and solder an XLR connector in the following way.
Pin 1 goes to the shield.
Pin 2 goes to hot.
Pin 3 gets jumped to pin 1
So on the reciever pin 1 and 3 get tied together along with the shield and pin two is hot.
To use other XLR type mic's with the transmitter you need to make a patch cord consisting of a short cable with an 1/8 mini jack on one end and a female XLR on the other.
The tip of the mini plug is Hot and the sleave gets soldered to sheild. On the other end of the patch cord pin 1 and 3 or pin 1 with a jumper to pin 3 get soldered to the female XLR connector with pin 2 being hot.
I was hoping that maybe someone here might be able to confirm this as well.
