Bad video results in Vegas 5 ...

Hello everybody there,
I have a big problem with making VCD with Vegas 5. I captured from my DV cam /PAL/ and everything is ok. But after rendering to MPEG-1 VCD Pal, the video quality becomes worse. I mean: when in the footage there is an episode with quick camera moving /but not so much fast moving!/, a shatter-like appears in the video. I hope you understand what I mean. Again,it is not appeared in the originaly captured DV video material!!! I supposed that this is because of the VCD format but I am not sure. The effects/filters I use are: MagicBullet, Sharpening, Color Corrector, Zenote Letterbox. That's all!
Also, usualy I make the footage little bit shorter in the timeline by decreasing the lenght by CNTR+mouse from the end of the clip. Of course, the speed becomes a little bit faster as I want.
So,do you think that increasing the speed makes this shattered vision? How to solve the problem? Please help me!!!

Re: Bad video results in Vegas 5 ...

The speed shouldn't get any faster unless you've applied a velocity envelope.

MPEG-1 is HORRIBLY compressed. The quality is very poor. This explains all of your quality issues, and the "shatter-like" is the artifacting. The defaults in Vegas are about as good as you can get with it -- but even if you make it better, it can only get so good. MPEG-1 is just low-quality.

Maybe I am not excellent in terminology and in explanation, but the speed SHOULD get faster by that way. Of course, the velosity is the general way,but when you try to make the footage visually shorter by mouse while holding down CNTR,the effect is more than obvious. Maybe there is a difference between these two methods. Anyway...
Look, David, the problem is that the shattering is visible even in the vegas preview display,i.e. before rendering. Do you think that there are some important parameters of VEGAS which must be adjusted properly? I am sorry if I make you bored, I just want to solve this stupid problem, because it is the same after rendering to .WMV, .AVI, ... not only mpeg-1.

Re: Bad video results in Vegas 5 ...

Sorry; I misunderstood you on the mouse-CNTRL drag. Yes, it would compress the time.

I didn't realize you had the problem before rendering to MPEG-1, or when you rendered to other formats -- you said above that the problem appeared after, so I assumed it was an MPEG-1 compression issue. Could you post a screenshot or an example of the "shattering"? It could be that the word you are using means something different to me than what you're trying to describe.

Re: Bad video results in Vegas 5 ...

David, the 1st clip is just a video sample rendered to .mpg-1 /Pal VCD/, and the 2nd clip is absolutely the same rendered to
.wmv
You can see that every moment when the camera moves arround, /i.e. it is not at static position/, the vision is too much "shattered" and misty somehow, no matter of my non-professional shooting especialy in this case. Of course even in Hollywood productions this happeds when the camera is moving so fast. But in my video sample you can see that the movement is not so fast, just a normal movement speed. But the artifact is more than obvious and "nervous" for the eyes.

I hope that these samples can make you totaly clear about the problem. Again, please for your special help, David!
Thank you in advance!!!

David, follow the instructions:
Just click on the links normaly /LEFT click of the mouse,NOT right!!!/, then you will see a tabular form in the lower half of the loaded webpage. In the bottom of tabular form you will see SELECT YOUR DOWNLOAD. Click on FREE /not on the PREMIUM/!!! Then in newly loaded page go to the very bottom of it, and you will see "Download-Ticket reserved. Please wait xx seconds". Wait until the countdown reaches "0" /zero/, and then the direct link to my video file will appear automaticaly.
That's all. This procedure is the same with my both clips.
Please, take a look at the clips and share your suggestions.

Sorry, doesn't work for me either. The screen you describe with a list didn't come up, but another pop-up webpage selling cell phones did. Didn't care for that. :P
