Bad TV system = Bad audio.

My school tv network consists of very old tv's with very bad sound qualities...

We aired our first episode of our student news network today... On my computer speakers, headphones, my TV, a friends TV, my cousins TV, the audio was all acceptable.

When It was played through the school, the audio was far too loud and blown out.

So, any way to remedy the situation a little?

Should I lower the volume of the entire broadcast, so the TV volumes will be pushed up?

Or should I do the opposite, and push a louder volume out of a low TV.

Anything else I could try?

Thanks.

what levels does your dialogue run at? Close to 0? If these tv's are primarily used for dvd/vhs playback I would imagine all of their volumes are cranked. You can either bring the levels down in post dialogue peaking closer -12 or even -18 or tell everyone to turn the tv's down to some acceptable level.
